Low Cost Marketing Tips to Make Money Online (and off) with Words
Are you ready to make money online with your words?
We have a new theme to help you make money online with your words… “Low cost marketing tips to make money online (and off) with words.” For four years we have been giving you all sorts of writing tips to help you write your book and articles. Clients have asked me over the years what can they do to make money online (and off), get noticed, and market and sell their products?
You asked for it so we will be devoting several articles to show you how to make money online (and off) with your words. Best of all we are going to start with low cost ways to market your products. Low cost doesn’t necessarily mean easy and fast. It will require your time and a commitment just like writing your book did.
Words can make you money. Depending upon your knowledge and skill there are many ways to make money online with words. To begin take a look at the list below. Do an inventory and identify if you already have some of these items that you could market and sell, and if not which ones could you easily develop to start making money.
To keep it simple identify just one product or service that can help you make money online right now. Select something from the list below that you know how to do. We will be explaining all the items below in more detail in later issues, but for now we want you to get started producing something you are familiar with so that you begin to understand the marketing process. That is the item you will use to develop your low cost marketing plan to make money online (and off).

Books can make you money. 1) paperback, 2) hardback, 3) workbook, 4) manual, and 5) a training binder. Smaller products to start can be a simple booklet with 10 tips or more in it. Your clients will love it. Best of all people do not throw away books. They may give them away but your name will always be out there. Eventually you will get the recognition you deserve if you keep on passing out your booklets or selling your books and you never give up.
Digital and Online products, Some items are: 1) e-Book, 2) MP3 and/or CD audios, and 3) Video training programs. Today’s cameras have great video systems on them and most of us can learn how to use them. Better yet get a teenager to video you with a 5-minute demo of your products or services. Then you can put it on your website. Or better yet, make a funny video on your products and send it to “You Tube.” Be sure to refer them to your site or phone number.
Speaking/Training. This is a great way to introduce your expertise and sell your products, It is an excellent way to sell your coaching or consulting services. If you have a fear of speaking you have to get over it if you are in business today.
Years ago in high school I had such a fear of speaking that I avoided it way into my adult years. When I got into management I had to speak at times and it was no fun. I knew I had to overcome this fear so I took a Dale Carnegie course on “Effective Speaking” years ago. After 12 weeks I had no fear. It was a lot of fun and a terrific supportive group of people helped me begin to believe in myself.
Later I joined Toastmasters, a speaking organization, to keep up my speaking skills. There are Toastmasters groups all over the world. If you are in business you need to have confidence in your speaking abilities. You have to sell your products and services. The better you are able to communicate with your customers and prospects, the more successful your business will be.
Always Be Prepared and Ready. Don’t wait until you know everything, are a terrific speaker, and have tons of products to sell. Start small and be ready when people call you. There are three things you must have ready at all times.
1. Have an order form and product info ready at all times. Take pictures of your products and have a list of them to hand out to customers as they come to your store or office, or as you visit their office.
2. Have a Cheat Sheet of contact info and a brief bio. If you are planning to go on radio and television add 10 questions to the sheet that you want the interviewer to ask you.
3. Media Sheet (One Sheet) with contact info, bio, credits and recognitions you have received.
With all of the above you are now ready to market your products and services. It takes your time and effort to do all of the above, but it is worth it. Now you have all the tools you need to get started with your marketing plan. Join Toastmasters International, take the Dale Carnegie “Effective Speaking” program, have your Cheat Sheet, Media Sheet, and product/service list ready and available
