Teleseminars are a great low-cost marketing tool

My Teleseminar Experience

My own experience with Teleseminars these the past two years was rough and bumpy. Looking back it is my own fault that I did not move faster. I had techno-phobia. I did not know what to do or how to do it. So my first Teleseminar two years ago was with a friend that set up the Teleseminar. I just dialed into the number she gave me, we invited our clients to dial in, and we had an educational and fun hour teaching them how to write a book.

After a few Teleseminars we got busy and stopped doing them. That was a mistake. Teleseminars are one way to build your list and show that you are an expert in your field. Also you have some recordings that you can offer fr-ee to your list, or package and sell them if they will be helpful and educational to your clients.

I procrastinated for months even though friends told me it was really easy to do. Finally, my own daughter was doing them and she gave me the Web site address of the service she was using. And it was fr-ee! I was still nervous about it, but I knew I had my daughter to answer my questions if I needed her.

I am embarrassed to say IT WAS EASY! The hardest part for me had nothing to do with the Teleseminars. There is something you have to do BEFORE you give your Teleseminar: INVITE PEOPLE. Yes, you need a list of people and a way to send them your announcement of your program. So here are the basics to help you get going with your own Teleseminars.

How to Get Started with Teleseminars.

  1. Build your list. Before you get started you need a list of names to invite to your Teleseminars. Begin collecting names and have a way to send them notices, announcements, online newsletter, etc., to keep YOUR NAME in front of your clients and prospects. Some low cost places to start building a list and sending out an online newsletter are iContact or Constant Contact. Pull out those business cards from your networking events, speaking engagements, etc. If you are not networking, get started now.
  2. Sign-up for a fr-ee Teleseminar service. This is easier than you think. There are many services to help you. Three services that I have used are InstantConference, TheBasementVentures, and FreeConferenceCall. Don’t procrastinate for eight months like I did. Sign-up today. The next step will show you how to overcome any fear you might have to get started.
  3. Invite friends to your first Teleseminar. Overcome any fears you might have by inviting a few friends to your first Teleseminar, and RECORD it. Remind yourself that this is practice. Allow your friends to talk to you. Each Teleseminar service has a list of things you can do such as, mute your friends, they can mute themselves, start recording, stop recording, etc. Practice using the code numbers with your friends. It is all done on your computer or pressing a code number on your phone. Keep practicing until you feel comfortable with the process. After the call listen to the recording to see if it came out all right. Once you feel good about it, you are now ready to announce your first official Teleseminar to your list.
  4. Transcribe your Teleseminar. It is a good idea to give your recording to someone to transcribe your message if you know you have a good content program. You can offer this as a fr-ee bonus or sell as a Special Report. Personally, I like to edit my transcripts and get rid of all of the fluff and redundant stuff—especially the ‘ahs’ and ‘ums’ that are recorded and I can never understand why the transcriber feels obligated to include them. That’s just my pet peeve as a book writing coach. You can find some transcribers on Craig’s List in your community, or advertise for a transcriber.

Get started today.

These are the basic steps to get you started. You do not need anything else except a good phone. I prefer a landline phone and that means you have to be in an office or at home where it is quiet. Some cell phones cause interference, but many people say they have no problems with them. That is why you have some test calls with your friends. If there is interference ask your friends what kind of phone they are using and you can do a test to see what phone is causing the problem.

Make money online with Teleseminars is a great way to promote your business and get recognized as an expert. Plus you will have a product: your recorded Teleseminars become MP3s and CDs. Teleseminars are an awesome low-cost marketing way to build your business. Start today, make money tomorrow.
